Lux Mac and cheese...

Made it to new years eve restaurant- only just!!! Rach went for the lobster Mac and cheese for appetizer being the afficiondo that she is.

The amount of people in the street is unreal. Is a real case of the have and have nots- mums and dads are pushed out or have been waiting since midday while the wealthy wind their way to their restaurant with a view.

Ours has a pair of dancing prawns- very kitch.

security checkpoints

All the people we have met in New York are more than happy to help- including the cops with their riot gear inc assault rifle out front of our hotel. The streets are all blocked leading to Times Square and you can only get through if you have a hotel pass.

To give you an idea, they have locked people out of an area about the size of Adelaide cbd- if you wanted to get in you needed to be in by around 4pm, and once you are in you can not leave.

Have booked dinner uptown on 7th near central park- they have a balcony where we can see the ball drop, albeit at a distance.

All the locals keep on saying how many Aussies are in town right now, with one guy asking 'how many are left back home.. they're all here!'

Pic- blocked street, with times square lights.

While you were sleeping

So, while you have been in bed recovering from new year celebrations we have been shopping up a storm (at least a mini one) at Macy's :)

Looovvvveee the shoe selections here. So many cool styles we are yet to see in ads and at good prices. Even Stuart weitzman is affordable! I have ended up with slightly nanna style boots but they are super comfy for the trekking and journeys ahead.

So now my outfit is complete for our slightly expensive 5 course meal tonight at a restaurant with a view, albeit far away, of the ball! Still 6 hours til nye here.

Much love- Rach

Not... Nye

Walked the city today- 44th to ground zero down 7th. A long walk, but good to see the different hoods. Trav likes west village (very posh, great wine stores and stunning NYC apartments and townhouses).

Visited Macy's- DJ on roids multiple floors of women's shoes, bought some hockey and ball ticks at the garden.

The picture is near our hotel- this is times square- the day before. Will try to find something nice for tomorrow night as it will be insane.

Rach is doing well crossing the streets- no green men here.

Finally we hit the US!!

6am in LA- about to land. The cabin slowly turned into a teenagers bedroom- people laying all over the isles, crap all over the floor and a dirty bathroom. Saw some good flicks, and beat Qantas at chess;) very tired, but excited, i hope the adrenalin wears off going across to NY. More room on international flights- I fit!!! Great gf Qantas- well done. But keep in mind I do not need soy milk:)

The long haul...

Just sat down, will not be getting up for 14 hours. It's like being in bed sick when you are ok. Good posi on jet, and a lot of free goodies already such as eye mask and a mando sized toothbrush. Next stop LA, then on to NYC.

The first of many airport visits.

Adl/syd/lax/JFK.
Thanks Janet for the 4am wake up call and taxi:)
